NEW - ELLP support resource

The Ministry ESOL team has developed a new resource to further support teachers using the ELLP matrices. This resource on ESOL Online has three parts:

Planning-for-English-language-learning_reference

1. Key messages around the use of ELLP
These Google Slides outline the key information you need before using the ELLP matrices for planning or funding.

2. Completing the ELLP matrices
The sets of Google slides are designed to unpack and explain the matrices for primary and secondary teachers. Each set contains exemplars, video clips and suggested texts that help to make sense of the indicators and apply them to your own classroom context.

3. Using the ELLP matrices information for teaching and planning
In this part you will see primary and intermediate teachers using the key documents ELLP, ELIP and SELLIPS for their planning and footage of what that can look like in both mainstream and an ESOL classrooms.

Who is this resource for?

· Classroom teachers
· Primary and secondary ESOL teachers
· Senior leaders in schools

The slides and footage can be used for personal, team, or whole staff viewing, or can be downloaded and shared with your school.

The Ministry ESOL team would like to thank all the contributors to this resource and acknowledge the expertise of the development team from Core Education, content lead Jane van der Zeyden, and all the ESOL specialists and classroom teachers involved. A special thanks must go to the following schools for their support: Mt Roskill Intermediate, Mt Roskill Primary, Baverstock Oaks, Takanini School, Ormiston Senior College, and Pukekohe High School.
