Literacy in Secondary schools

For many students, literacy changes considerable at a Secondary school level. Learners are now required to distinguish the different types of literacy required for each discrete subject. They may need to engage with a variety of text forms, and analyse them differently according to subject variations.

The "writing whare" below is a visual support to start a conversation that builds deeper understanding. This helps learners to think about the questions that help create a meaningful text, while considering the text features that are common to their subject area and text type.
