The Conversation recently posted an article on how Kanye may not like books, but hip-hop fosters a love of literature.
The article highlights how literature features within the lyrics of hip-hop and while the artist himself may not enjoy reading books, his artform is one that speaks to and relies on literature. Both the artist and the author agreed that reading is not the only means of access to ideas and the manner through which to express creativity and "intelligence".
The article discusses references within songs to literature which would provide a great starter activity.
