Updates to the Resource Teacher Literacy Manual

Student holding a peg.

The Resource Teachers of Literacy (RTLit) Service provides time-limited support to years 0–8 students with high literacy needs. To do this, approximately 109 RTLit teachers work with classroom teachers to build teacher capability in teaching literacy to students who need support. Each RTLit is employed by a host school and works across a number of schools within a cluster.

RTLit practice has been guided by two separate manuals. They have been combined into one, refreshed manual.

Cover page of Resource Teacher: Literacy Manual.

This single manual:

  • describes the expectations of the RTLit role and what RTLit practice is. It also describes how the supplementary support provided by RTLit is designed to help teachers and school leaders effectively support students to learn.
  • describes the expectations for the clusters of schools supporting an RTLit, and for RTLit practice in English medium settings.

The refreshed manual is available on Literacy Online
