The RT: Lit Service provides short intensive support to years 0-8 students with high literacy needs. There are approximately 109 RT: Lit supporting and assisting school staff, and working with New Zealand children. Each RT: Lit is employed by a host school and works across a number of schools within a cluster.
The two manuals for the RTLit Service, the Professional Practice Manual and Management and Leadership Manual, have recently been refreshed and updated, and can be found here.
As part of the refresh of the Resource Teachers Literacy Professional Practice Manual and the Management and Leadership Manual, a series of practice cases has been developed. These practice cases provide insight into effective indirect and direct ways of working. They contain information about the impact on accelerated progress, the identified changes in teacher and leadership practices, and the outcomes for students. These practice cases are examples of practice that RTLit can consider applying, where relevant, to their own practice. If you have any questions, please contact RTLiteracy@education.govt.nz
